One of my daughters, when she was about 4 or 5, wanted to be a mermaid.
So I went to a lot of trouble to make her a mermaid outfit - all I can remember was that a lot of baking foil was involved! However, it turned out that she didn't want to dress up as mermaid - she wanted to really be one! Thankfully, this wish was only temporary!
But mermaids, like fairies, feature large in the imagination of many little girls. So here is my mermaid collection of greeting cards and gifts -
